The John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center Recognized for Excellence with ACC HeartCARE Center Distinction of Excellence

Lake Charles, Louisiana, Dec. 1, 2021 – The American College of Cardiology has recognized the John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care. The John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center is the only center in Southwest Louisiana to receive the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence. The prestigious designation is awarded annually based on meeting ACC accreditation criteria, and through ongoing performance registry reporting. The John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center also received the Distinction last year.

Hospitals and health systems that have earned an ACC HeartCARE Center designation have met a set of criteria, including participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, NCDR registries and targeted quality improvement campaigns, such as Patient Navigator Program: Focus MI, that are designed to help hospitals and institutions close gaps in guidelinebased care.

The John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center was previously awarded NCDR Chest Pain- MI Platinum Award for excellent metrics, TCV certification, AHA Mission: Lifeline certification, Chest Pain Center accreditation, HeartCARE Center award, ACC Heart Failure NEWS RELEASE Center accreditation, ACC TAVR certification and VPR OPT Cardiac Rehabilitation certification by ACC Accreditation Services. The John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center also participates in registries including ACC NCDR Cath/PCI, ACC NCDR Chest Pain/MI, ACC NCDR TVTACC NCDR LAAO, Louisiana Emergency Response Network Acute MI, and Society of Thoracic Surgeons. This designation highlights the John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center and the Heart team’s continued commitment to quality for patients, providers and other stakeholders.
