How to Help
The CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation is a pioneer in Southwest Louisiana for health care innovation, support for those in need and extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Foundation exists thanks to the support of its donors, who fund things like state-of-the-art technology and pediatric equipment through the Children’s Miracle Network.
Giving to the Foundation takes many forms, including one-time donations, event participation, major gifts, sponsorships, capital campaigns, planned giving and more. How will you get involved?
One of the easiest ways to make a difference is with a monetary donation – whether it’s a one-time contribution or a major gift. Additional opportunities include participating in an event, supporting stores with give-back programs, hosting your own fundraiser, including the Foundation in your estate planning and more!
Planned giving, sometimes referred to as gift planning, is a method of charitable support that allows donors to make larger gifts than they could make from their income. While some planned gifts provide a lifelong income to the donor and then leave remaining assets to the charity upon the donor’s passing, others use estate and tax planning techniques to provide for charity and other heirs in ways that maximize the gift and/or minimize its impact on the donor’s estate. CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation hosts a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, including fun runs, brunches and Dragon Boat Races. These events provide exciting opportunities to involve the Southwest Louisiana community and raise money for a great cause.
- Grace Gardens at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital is a quiet, lush green space with tranquil fountains and benches where visitors can sit, meditate and experience God’s healing presence and love. Each year around St. Patrick’s Day, we dedicate the Garden Wall in honor of our community and CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital’s anniversary. All etched bricks are completed at that time and presented to the community during the dedication ceremony. Everyone who purchases a brick receives an invitation to the ceremony.
- Green Hat Run/Walk/Crawl and Black Pot Cook-Off – Join us for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Green Hat Run and Black Pot Cook-Off, which has previously benefited the Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation Program at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital and will support other areas in years to come.
- Shamrocks and Champagne Brunch – Put a twist on this Sunday tradition to support special hospital initiatives each year at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick and CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area hospitals.
- Dragon Boat Races
- Our annual Dragon Boat Races are a fun, unique fundraising experience that allows the whole family to participate for a great cause – our Children’s Miracle Network efforts in SWLA! This year, we’ll raise funds for labor and delivery items like radiant and portable warmers, fetal heart and wireless Monica monitors, blanket and milk warmers, syringe pumps and more.
